Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 details surfaced online, raising competition for Exynos 2600

Samsung is working on its next-generation chipset, Exynos 2600, based on 2nm SoC, which is expected to power the Galaxy S26 smartphone. Meanwhile, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 performance has already leaked online.

The Korean tech giant has struggled hard with its 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset due to poor yield, and now it’s trying its best to improve its yield for the Exynos 2600. If the results come out in its favor, it could power the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

On the other side, Qualcomm is gearing to launch its next-gen chip, Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, in the second half of the year, which looks set to bring substantial improvements in CPU and GPU performance. However, this raises a question regarding whether the Exynos 2600 can keep up with the competition.

A reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, has revealed exciting details regarding the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. According to the tipster, the chipset will adopt Qualcomm’s second-generation Oryon CPU cores, increasing CPU performance by about 25% compared to the first-generation solution. Coming to the GPU, it will use a 16MB cache instead of the 12MB cache, which will result in about 30% performance boost. The chipset will support new-gen high-speed LPDDR5X and LPDDR6, which will boost performance and efficiency.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is based on TSMC’s 3nm N3P process, whereas on the opposite side, the Exynos 2600 chipset is built using a 2nm process. Practically, this Exynos 2600 chip should also offer considerable upgrades over its predecessor due to its smaller node. However, it remains to be seen exactly what happens next, whether Samsung will go for the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 completely for the Galaxy S26 series or use its in-house Exynos 2600 chip.
