Voice Recorder May 2025 update gives a short glimpse of One UI 8 AI-powered improvements

Samsung upgraded its Voice Recorder app with a new update, compatible with devices running One UI 8, before even the official rollout of the Android 16 update for its devices.
The Korean tech giant is actively working on its next major update, Android 16-based One UI 8, and highly expected to start the beta program sometime by the end of this month. Meanwhile this the company has rolled out a new update for the Voice Recorder app, developed for devices running One UI 8, but is also compatible with devices running the current One UI 7 version.
The update made the Voice Recorder more complex as compared to the previous version, as now it seems more dedicated to recording and playing back voice notes. With the latest version, the playback is once again the key focus on the screen, and the transcription feature is still available, but appears as a non-intrusive button.

The company has assembled other AI features; for instance, summarisation and translation in a menu at the top of the screen, making the app cleaner and more user-friendly. Now the AI will support you in the background and no longer take the spotlight. Users now have more control to decide when to use tools like transcription or translation.
With this new update, Samsung has made the Voice Recorder app more innovative and raised its usability to enhance the user experience.
