Samsung’s Quick Share Inspires Google to Add New Functionality

Samsung’s Quick Share is one of a kind, and now Google has also started walking in its footsteps by already replacing its Nearby Share with Quick Share. Meanwhile, a new report claims that Google is set to borrow useful functionality from Samsung’s Quick Share.
It looks like Google and Samsung have joined hands when it comes to redesigning and refining Android’s Quick Share feature, and now, Google’s Quick Share will be able to cut off the download links from Samsung’s Quick Share, as reported by Android Authority.
Basically, Samsung’s Quick Share feature allows Galaxy users to share their files with other users over the cloud using temporary Samsung Cloud download links. At the same time, the source managed to dive into a code spotted with the latest version of Google Play Services beta (v25.23.30), where Google’s Quick Share was able to block these Samsung Cloud download links.
More specifically, the feature allowed Google’s Quick Share to open the URL in its own interface rather than opening it in the default browser. In simple words, Google’s Quick Share will block Samsung Cloud download links from Samsung’s Quick Share and trigger links to open within the app.
Beyond this, when tapped on the Samsung Cloud link, Google’s Quick Share will prompt users to enable Bluetooth. Once done, the app will begin to download the file while also showing a progress bar that wrongly shows Scan QR code. Also, the loading bar shows a message that reads out, “If the automatic download doesn’t start, you can download from your browser,” making users wait and download the file manually.
However, currently, Google’s Quick Share feature is not working and is under development. But if the reports come true, then this feature will allow users to have a more consistent experience between Samsung Galaxy devices and other Android smartphones.
