Since Samsung abandoned its TizenOS to adopt Google’s WearOS (With the Galaxy Watch 4), the Galaxy Watch lineup is blessed with the incredibilities of both One UI and WearOS. Recently, with the arrival of Android 14’s Developer Preview, it has also been found that Google may emerge Material You support in WearOS. If that happens, WearOS botted Galaxy Watch- Watch4 and Watch5 series will also get it.

Notably, Material You was introduced with Android 12 and is the third-gen of Google’s Material Design. It has a wide lineup of Dynamic colours, and it can change the system interface’s colour based on the smartphone’s background. Thankfully, Material You and its Dynamic Colors aren’t limited to Android phones, but ChromeOS is also planning for its own colourful redesign, and reports of WearOS to get Material You are also spreading.

Galaxy Watch 4 & 5 may be blessed with Material You

With the Android 14 Developer Preview, a new “DYNAMIC_COLOR_THEME_ENABLED” option appeared in the Android device’s wearable-related settings. This new option exposes the possibilities of WearOS to get Google’s Material You support, and if that happens, WearOS watches will also be able to reflect Material You’s dynamic colours.

Let us inform you, WearOS 3 already has a little bit of Material You’s resemblance with individual apps and system UI design, but, as it is based on Android 11, it still lacks the built-in support for changing Dynamic colours. Now, finally, it seems that WearOS will also get Dynamic colour support with an upcoming update for WearOS.

However, one thing is still unclear, how the Material You’s DYnamic colours will work on Galaxy Watches (WearOS). There are many possibilities, the first is it may get black as the primary colour for battery conservation which is quite simple, and the other is the WearOS Watch may pursue the same colour theme its paired smartphone has.

Other than these above-mentioned scenarios, it is also possible that the watch face will inform WearOS what colour to choose for the Material You theme. Whatsoever, we can just assume the future comer until it arrives or the company itself gives a clarification for this.
