Not too long ago, we saw the introduction of new software from the big Korean tech company, Samsung. They call it One UI 5.1.1. They unveiled it while showing off their new folding phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, along with some big tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. With this new software, which is based on Android 13, Samsung wants to make the experience of using these folding devices with big screens much better.

Once they announced their plan to bring One UI 5.1.1 to a bunch of Galaxy devices, Samsung is usually good at keeping their promises, especially when it comes to updates. In fact, they’ve already started rolling out this new software for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 tablets.

One UI 5.1.1 update for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3

Now the South Korean giant has started rolling out the One UI 5.1.1 update for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone users. The update is currently available in Europe and the United States. The respective firmware versions are F926BXXU5FWH5 and F711BXXU6FWH3 for European units. On the other hand, the carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 3 is receiving the One UI 5.1.1 update on the US Cellular network with firmware version F711USQU5GWH3. At the same time, the devices benefit, thanks to the update in question, from the latest security fixes thanks to the August 2023 patches, with which Samsung takes care to solve 2 critical level, 50 high-grade, and 1 moderate-grade (CVE) vulnerabilities, as well as 19 EVS (Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures) specific to Galaxy devices.

Samsung phones that will grab Android 14 (One UI 6) as their first major OS update

The update for the new One UI version brings a bunch of cool stuff for devices with big screens. You can now easily drag and drop files using two hands, hide pop-up windows on one side, and quickly switch between pop-up view and multi-window mode for certain apps. They’ve also made the taskbar better, so you can see up to four recently used apps on the right side.

When you’re sharing stuff, there are new features too. You can now set a time limit for how long someone can see a file when you share it privately. And you can use Quick Share to send files to people even if they’re not on the same Wi-Fi network.

Even the photo editor that comes with Samsung phones has some new tricks. They replaced the sliders with dials that are easier to use. And if you like to customize your phone’s look, now you can change modes right from the lock screen and use more characters for the clock widget on the lock screen.

If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, you should receive the notification soon regarding the availability of the One UI 5.1.1 update, but if you do not want to wait, you can manually download and install the update by following the path Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install.
