Samsung is collaborating with medical institutions to introduce innovative health solutions that especially include mental well-being.

Samsung is one of the strong competitors in smart wearable devices. Recently, it debuted its brand-new Galaxy Watch 7 with advanced physical health monitoring and tracking features. Soon the Samsung Galaxy Watch may help improve mental health too.

Sad to relate, mental health efficiently influences multiple aspects of life, yet technology primarily focuses on physical health. Now Samsung is looking forward to addressing this by collaborating with medical institutions to develop innovative health solutions that include mental well-being.

The collaboration is dedicated to focusing on the mind-body connections and exploring factors—for instance, cardiovascular health, depression, mood, and resilience—to develop more comprehensive and preventative health solutions.

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is conducting a study using the Galaxy Watch to inspect the connection between depression and several biomarkers in 150 participants. MGH is working on identifying particular characteristics associated with depression by evaluating health metrics, for instance, activity levels, sleep patterns, and biometric data. It will result in developing a mental health index, helping users understand their mental state and take proactive steps.

Samsung Health SDK and Tulane University School of Medicine are using data from the Galaxy Watch to develop biomarkers for early detection of cardiovascular disease risk factors. Apart from these, a few more institutes are studying regarding mental well-being.

Samsung’s new collaboration suggests that soon the Galaxy Watch could help improve mental health.
