Android 16’s New Feature Could Let Any App Run in a Floating Bubble

Samsung is still struggling with Android 15-based One UI 7, and already Android 16 rumors started blowing up in the market. Android 16 is rumored to bring a massive multitasking upgrade.

A few years ago, with Android 11, Google introduced a new feature called the Bubbles API that allows messaging apps to put conversations in a floating window. Now Google is looking forward to upgrading this feature in Android 16 since currently it seems underutilized.

The bubble API is limited to conversation notifications, and the users can disable it; there are limited apps that support it. Google is now working on this feature that permits any Android app to be placed in a floating bubble effortlessly.

According to Android Authority, the latest Android 15 beta includes a new feature called “bubble anything’ that lets users open any app in a floating bubble. It can be authorized in the Pixel Launcher and is accessible by long-pressing on any app on the home screen.

The new Bubble Anything feature will surely upgrade multitasking on Android smartphones; this means that Samsung could also adopt this feature for its Galaxy devices with its coming OS update. Somewhere, it seems that the feature will be more impactful on Android tablets. While combined with the coming bubble stashing feature, this feature will make multitasking much more effortless for Android smartphones.
