Samsung Wallet Partners with GLN for Seamless International QR Payments

Samsung is planning to expand the ways of Samsung Wallet by integrating it with GLN (Global Loyalty Network) to enhance seamless cross-border QR payments.

A report from ETNews revealed that Samsung Electronics is collaborating with Hana Bank’s Global Loyalty Network. The reason behind this collaboration is to make the Samsung Wallet start integrating the GLN overseas payment services starting next year on 6 January 2025, to result in a seamless QR payment experience.

There’s a set of nine countries where GLN overseas payments are available, among which Japan and Thailand will be the first regions where it will be implemented. Noticeably, the QR code payment methods will also be supported. Apart from this, in a few regions of the US, Hong Kong, and Singapore, overseas transportation cards can also be used.

The Korean tech giant is also looking forward to rephrasing customer terms and conditions, including third-party resources of personal information regarding wallet partner services, just to verify smooth implementation.

Samsung Electronics is expecting to strengthen its Samsung Wallet overseas payment service. Noticeably, in cases where the merchant at an overseas location has an NFC device, Korean Visa and Mastercard cards can also be used for payment through Samsung Wallet.

This new integration will reduce fees as compared to the current global processing networks, for instance, Visa or Mastercard.
