Samsung is to adopt a convenient, seamless updates strategy with its upcoming Galaxy S25 series next year.

Seamless updates, also known as A/B system updates, permit users to seamlessly use their smartphones while an over-the-air (OTA) update is downloaded and installed in the background.

Google, for so many years, already delivered seamless updates, and now Samsung is also adopting this feature with its upcoming Galaxy S25 series. A new report from Android Authority claims the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is confirmed to support seamless updates.

According to the report, from leaked files, it confirmed that the Galaxy S25 series will support seamless updates, allowing for background installation of system updates. This will prevent users from waiting for updates to install, saving users from downtime and reducing frustration. Previously, it was rumored that Samsung could introduce a seamless update with the Galaxy S25 series, and now finally a new report confirms it.

However, the Galaxy S25 will not be the first device to arrive with the seamless update since Samsung has already introduced this strategy with its newly launched mid-range smartphone called the Galaxy A55. Now the Galaxy S25 series smartphones will be the second to support seamless updates.

The Galaxy S25 series will launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 January next year, will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite worldwide, and run Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box.
