One UI 8 May Arrive Early as One UI 7 Rollout Faces Delays

It’s happening! The first-ever One UI 8-based internal test build for the Galaxy S25 series has recently been spotted on test servers, asserting that Samsung may have apparently started developing the latest Android 16-based One UI 8 software skin.
One UI 8 Testing Begins—Samsung Prepares for an Early Launch
According to the latest report (via X), the current flagships, the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, have appeared on the One UI 8 internal test build servers recently and carry the BYC1 build number. This could be a sign that Samsung’s upcoming skin is probably in its development stage.

Meanwhile, on the comparison side, Google is back on track with the stable Android 16’s releases, which are apparently scheduled for June 2025; the One UI 8 software that will eventually run Android 16 on top will hopefully not face any delay like the current One UI 7.
Alternatively, it could also mean that Samsung is allegedly looking forward to skipping One UI 7.1 or One UI 7.1.1, as it has to develop and deliver One UI 8 on time.
For now, these internal test builds are not from any official source, while it’s better that the Galaxy audience should wait for official confirmation from Samsung’s side. On the other hand, since One UI 8 will be backed up with Android 16, it could bring features like customizable keyboard shortcuts for Galaxy Books, battery health tracking, more improved functionalities, and more.
