A large part of the Android OS is dominated by the advanced customizations and the convenience that it provides to the users. Meanwhile, beginning with Android 16, Google is adding the ability that will allow users to customize keyboard shortcuts easily in order to improve Android’s convenience for physical keyboards, which could be advantageous for Galaxy Books (with One UI 8) as well.
According to the information provided by Android Authority, a new ability has been spotted in the device running Android 16 beta 2 that flashes a new keyboard shortcut customization feature, where the users can easily customize the shortcut key combinations on their Android device’s keyboard other than the physical keyboard.
Android 16 beta 2 adds keyboard shortcut customization, accessible on Galaxy Books with One UI 8
First up, the only condition is that your device should run at least Android 16 Beta 2. Well, the report lists three different ways to access the newly added keyboard shortcut customization option. Users can enter into the View Keyboard Shortcuts option that can be found under System >> Keyboard >> Physical Keyboard once they enter the device’s settings page, on one hand; users can get the option by tapping the floating toolbar and then selecting Show Keyboard Shortcuts on the other.
Lastly, entering the Meta+/ shortcut on the keyboard opens up the customizable shortcut menu. Now that the user enters the shortcut menu, the customize option will then be visible at the top right corner. Users will be able to see the + button beside shortcuts that are customizable.
The key highlight here is that users can create their own shortcut combinations using the Meta/Action key, but the customizable combination must not be similar to one that’s already in use.
