One UI 8.5 Rumors Stir Up Buzz Ahead of One UI 8.0

Since there’s no official announcement heard regarding the One UI 8, and Samsung is yet to drop the stable One UI 7 update for a large number of Galaxy users, meanwhile, it’s allegedly reported that Samsung is secretly working on an unexpected jump in its One UI version, signaling a new software, One UI 8.5, could be under preparation.

One UI 8.5 Could Already Be in the Works

According to the reports presented by Sammypolice, they have analyzed Samsung’s system component string codes, which significantly show the sign of the next major release, One UI 8.5 build, possibly under development.

At the same time, it further points out that Samsung may look forward to skipping minor updates in shaping more refined software in the form of One UI 8.5. In any case, if this information proves to be true, then the .5 version will mark its return after several years for the first time with the next-generation Galaxy S26 series in 2026.

While the One UI x.1 and x.1.1 are minor updates from Samsung, the newly rumored One UI x.5 version will act as a major yet meaningful upgrade for the Galaxy ecosystem. Therefore, the One UI 8.5 seems to be looking forward to bringing more than just a few minor refinements and features, both internally and visually.

Additionally, another report by tipster Tarun Vats flashes a light over early developments of One UI 8.5, suggesting that he has already heard about Samsung planning 8.5 right after the One UI 8 version.

Well, Samsung is supposed to launch its next-generation foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, during the second Galaxy Unpacked event in the 2nd half; these models will debut One UI 8 out of the box. Also, this further signals that Samsung could entirely skip One UI 8.1 and jump straight to 8.5 to complete the later Android 16 rotation.
