Samsung Galaxy Devices Boost Google Messages to the Top of the Chart on Play Store

Samsung with its newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldable phones offered pre-installed Google Messages instead of Samsung Messages. This boosts the surprising ranking for the app as it became the first (#1) on the Play Store top charts.

Samsung ditched its dedicated messaging app and promoted Google Messages with its new-generation foldable phones. Right after the launch of the new foldable phones, it was reported that Samsung, without any notable announcement, offered pre-installed Google Message as a default messaging app.

Initially, Samsung changed its ritual by ditching its Samsung Messages, making Google Messages a default messaging app, but for some latest Galaxy devices. Recently, it was reported that the company is prompting older Galaxy device users to download Google Message to use it as the default messaging app.

After this change, Google Messages is at the top position on the top free chart in the US Play Store. Previously, the messaging service was ranked in the second position in Google Play’s “Top Free” chart. It surpassed TikTok, Instagram, and other social media apps. Currently, Google Messages have more than 5 billion downloads.

Making Google Messages has a default messaging app on Galaxy devices that boots the installation range. On the other side, Samsung is also actively pushing older users to adopt Google Messenger. However, shifting on this migration has been problematic with some users, as they are experiencing data loss.
