Samsung Messages No Longer Pre-Installed: Here’s Why

Samsung Galaxy devices include a tremendous suite of some of the best apps and services, with the Samsung Messages being the most useful messaging app. However, the company has just removed Samsung Messages as a pre-installed option from its Galaxy ecosystem, with the latest Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 becoming the first models to witness this removal.
Despite being the great yet intuitive messaging service with the most interactive and smooth One UI interface, Samsung Messages has now been replaced with Google Messages amidst some latest features and RCS technology benefits.
The Reason Samsung Is Dropping Pre-Installed Messages on Galaxy Devices
This includes cross-platform support and communicating efficiently, all while maintaining a high level of performance and security.
Meanwhile, Samsung initially started showing the signs of replacing its popular Samsung Messages with Google Messages back in 2021, but things began changing gradually when Google Messages became the default messaging app on Samsung Galaxy S22, which eventually replaced Samsung Messages for the first time.
This drastically led to a major shift where several flagship Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S23 and S24 series, along with various Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models, began following Google Messages as their default messaging app, ditching Samsung Messages and making it an alternative messaging app that could be installed from the Galaxy Store.
However, it’s important to note that the replacement of Samsung Messages to Google Messages as a default messaging app on Galaxy devices is currently available in the US, while Samsung devices in the regions still have Samsung Messages pre-installed.
