OnePlus 13 Expected to Feature Better IP Rating Than Galaxy S24

OnePlus 12

OnePlus is a budding competitor of Samsung, which is gearing up to launch its next-generation smartphone, the OnePlus 13, with an IP68 or IP69 rating.

Earlier this year, Samsung debuted its high-end Galaxy S24 series, which features an IP68 rating to protect the device from dust and water. The IP rating is a kind of extra layer of protection over the smartphone’s display.

The IP rating is an international standard that measures how well an electrical or mechanical enclosure can resist damage from liquids, dust, objects, and accidental contact. The Galaxy S24 series is rated IP68, where 6 stands for the dust rating, which is the highest level of protection, and 8 stands for the water resistance rating, which can resist up to 5 feet for up to 30 minutes.

As a strong competitor, the OnePlus 13 could be rated with an IP68 or IP69 rating. This is being speculated on by a tipster named Digital Chat Station. Apart from this, the Google Pixel 8 series and Samsung Galaxy S24 series already have this rating.

It will be interesting to see whether the upcoming phone will be powered by this IP68 or IP69 rating. But if OnePlus wants to overcome Samsung in the tech market, then it should add an extra layer of protection to its upcoming OnePlus 13 by offering an IP69 rating.

Since Samsung’s current Galaxy S24 series has an IP68 rating, So, this is a golden chance for OnePlus to make its strong place in the market by offering this a step better IP rating than the Galaxy S24.

Samsung is all set to debut its sixth-generation foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. These upcoming devices will bring a new revolution in the protection of smartphones since they could be rated with an IP48 rating.

Samsung is about to host the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on July 10, at which the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will make their debut. Right before the launch, a new leak suggests a noteworthy upgrade in the display and battery performance of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, respectively.

A tipster named Evan Blass on X shared a post that showcased the images of both the upcoming devices via his Substack newsletter. The leaked images hint that both phones’ frames are built with Armor aluminum material and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 Protection for the cover screen. Initially, it was expected that Samsung would use a titanium frame for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The more noteworthy upgrade is that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 are IP48-rated to add an extra layer of dust and water resistance. If this report comes true, then this will be the world’s first smartphone to be rated with this IP rating.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 specs

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 features a 3.4-inch cover screen and a 6.7-inch foldable display. The cover screen has a 720 x 748 pixel resolution and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Whereas the foldable panel is a dynamic AMOLED 2x screen that has Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It has a vapor chamber system to avoid overheating; it will be the first flip phone to feature a vapor chamber in the Galaxy family yet.

The camera setup will include a 50 MP primary camera and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. On the flip side, a 10 MP selfie camera is housed, and it is also capable of recording 4K 60 fps videos using all its cameras. The brand has boosted the battery capacity this time with a 4,000mAh battery, which measures 85.1 × 71.9 × 14.9mm.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 display specs

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 6.3-inch dynamic AMOLED 2x display with HD+ resolution and a 7.6-inch dynamic AMOLED 2x screen with QXGA+ resolution. Both displays have a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits.

Its camera arrangement includes a 50MP primary rear camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, a 10MP selfie camera on the cover screen, and a 4MP front-facing camera on the inner screen. It can record 4K 60 fps videos using all its cameras, just like the Galaxy Z Flip 6, but it can also record 8K 30 fps videos and 4K 120 fps slow-motion video with the primary camera. It measures 155.5 x 152.6 x 5.6 mm in the unfolded position and 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.9 mm in the closed position. It’s lighter than its predecessor, as it weighs 239 g. It has a 4,400 mAh battery capacity.

The brand powered both devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The memory package counts 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be available in a 1 TB variant. Both the upcoming phones will run Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 out of the box. The company will offer a Galaxy AI, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, a dual-SIM card slot, GPS, 5G (sub-6 GHz), Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 to both devices.

Samsung Galaxy S25+ Development Continues Amidst Dubious Rumors

Published

Samsung has scheduled the Galaxy S25 series for early 2025. It’s quite early, but the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series is already a hot topic in the market. It was reported that Samsung could ditch the Galaxy S25+ from the series, but that’s not the case anymore.

Samsung includes three members in each Galaxy S-series family, including base, plus, and ultra. But recently, it was reported by Android Headlines, that Samsung is looking forward to dropping the plus variant ‘Galaxy S25+’ from the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. The reason behind this step was pointed out: the less sold.

A new report (Galaxy Club) says that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will include, as usual, three variants: the Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25+, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. If the new reports are to be believed, these are internally referred to by the code names F1, F2, and F3, among others, whereas the model names attached to them are S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra sequentially.

Apart from this, all three model numbers are also spotted: SM-S931, SM-S936, and SM-S938, which is the ritual scheme the Korean giant follows. On the other side, the camera specs of the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ are also revealed by the same source, according to which the company will use a 50MP primary rear camera sensor.

Apart from this, no more specific details have come into existence. The previous reports already suggested that Samsung could power the entire Galaxy S25 series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, whereas a few rumors point out that it could be powered by the Exynos 2500 or MediaTek. It will be interesting to see what specs and features the Galaxy S25 will bring to enhance the user experience.

Samsung May Drop ‘Plus’ Variant from Galaxy S25 Lineup

Published

Samsung has already started gearing up for its upcoming flagship series, the Galaxy S25 series, which will debut in early 2025. Potentially, the brand could ditch the plus variant ‘Galaxy S25+’ from the series.

This means that the forthcoming premium smartphone series, the Galaxy S25, could only bring two variant models, including the base and ultra-named Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Android Headlines reported that the Korean giant radically changed the Galaxy S25 series by offering only two models.

Usually, Samsung offers three variants in the Galaxy S-series, including base, plus, and ultra, but that’s not the case for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. The report says that the Galaxy S25 series is now surfacing with the model number.

The Galaxy S25 has the model number SM-S931B/DS, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra appears under the SM-S938B, SM-S938U, SM-S938N, and SM-S9380 model numbers.

The last letter of each model number indicates the particular region; for instance, ‘B’ stands for global, ‘U’ suggests the USA, and ‘N’ indicates South Korea. The reason behind this change appears to be the minimum sales of plus models.

Following the sales metrics of the Galaxy S series’ plus model as compared to the ultra and base, it hasn’t sold well.

The previous reports already reported that the base variant of the of the Galaxy S25 won’t feature a major camera upgrade. The Galaxy S25 camera setup is expected to include a 50MP main camera and a 12MP selfie camera.

Whereas the Galaxy S25 Ultra camera arrangement could count a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 50 MP 3x telephoto camera, and a 50 MP 5x telephoto camera.

The brand could be powered by the by the Galaxy S25 series with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, an Exynos 2500, and potentially a MediaTek chipset. The battery model numbers EB-BS938ABE and EB-BS938ABY have already been spotted, which could possibly feature a 5000mAh battery capacity.
