Samsung & Qualcomm collabs to debut AI-powered XR Glasses

Samsung, Qualcomm, and Google are collaborating to introduce mixed-reality glasses linked to a smartphone. The brands will make sure to use a different approach from Apple’s Vision Pro.

If the report is to be believed, the Korean tech giant is budding portable mixed-reality smart glasses in collaboration with Qualcomm. To clear things up, it’s not an XR headset; the company’s first extended reality product could be smart glasses with AI for new experiences.

On the other side, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon announced that the chip designer is gearing up with Samsung and Google to explore a mixed-reality set of glasses. It seems that this approach will be quite different from Apple’s standalone headset. The key aim behind this collaboration is to develop technology that combines augmented and virtual reality.

Amon stated, “We need to reach a point where wearing smart glasses feels no different from wearing regular glasses or sunglasses. Only then can we achieve true scale.”

It’s expected that the brand could debut the XR smart glasses by the end of this year. It’s reported that both Samsung and Qualcomm are aggressively looking forward to making XR glasses mainstream, while Google could support them with optimized software.

The XR smart glasses project, involving three well-established brands: Qualcomm, Samsung, and Google, aims to debut AI-powered glasses later this year. These glasses are anticipated to feature on-device AI capabilities, with some tasks handled by the phone or cloud for enhanced experiences.
