Samsung Galaxy S25 Refines Fingerprint and Face Unlocking

Samsung offers a bundle of upgrades with the Galaxy S25 series as compared to its predecessor to enhance user experience, including fingerprint and face unlock capabilities.
Last month, Samsung debuted the Galaxy S25 series, and as expected it has brought a new revolution in the tech industry via its great specifications and advanced features. The series has already broken the pre-orders record of its predecessor, hinting at its success.
Apart from the upgrades that are in the limelight, according to one of our colleagues at Android Authority, the Galaxy S25 users are convinced that the company has upgraded the face unlock mechanism to enhance the unlocking experience.
A random Galaxy S25 Ultra user on X shared a text post, claiming that the face unlock works more seamlessly and flawlessly even in low-light or unideal conditions. Reportedly, the face unlock is now compatible with wider angles as compared to the previous version.
The Galaxy S25 series has a 12MP selfie camera that doesn’t feature a dot projector, a flood illuminator, or an IR camera like iPhones do, so they can’t be compatible with creating a three-dimensional depth map of a user’s face, which hints that the face unlock mechanism is not secure enough and theoretically shouldn’t work well in low-light scenes.
However, Samsung hasn’t mentioned anything official regarding this upgrade alongside the other improvements and new changes the Galaxy S25 series has brought.
