Samsung plans to expand its Galaxy Ring family by introducing the next-generation wearable smart ring, Galaxy Ring 2, which is anticipated to charge on a Samsung Smartphone case.
In July 2024, at the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung launched its first smart ring called Galaxy Ring. Initially, the ring was limited to a few selected regions; however, later, the company expanded its availability to more markets and continues its expansion.
Now, a new report from one of our reliable colleagues, 91mobiles, revealed that Samsung might introduce a new way to wirelessly charge future Galaxy Rings (Galaxy Ring 2). It has spotted a newly filed patent application of the forthcoming wearable device that reveals the charging details.

Reportedly, according to the details on WIPO, the Korean tech giant filed the patent with the application number WO/2025/063477 last July, and it got approved just a few days ago. The images in the patent suggest that the Galaxy Ring 2 can be placed on the back panel of a compatible Samsung smartphone for charging.
Samsung will offer various sensors to Galaxy Ring 2 that will make it compatible with identifying whether it has been placed properly, and if not, it will send notifications for correct placement. It will be a wireless charging circuit that will provide power to the battery of the smart ring via the transmitter, and when the charging process starts, details like status, battery levels, etc, will be displayed on the phone.
However, currently, these details are based on the spotted patent, so it remains to be seen whether these enhancements will come into existence.
