Google to bring back light theme on Android Auto

Google is actively planning to bring back the light theme for Android Auto to enhance the user experience in particular scenes.

Initially, Android Auto features a light theme, but back in 2019, Google decided to remove the theme as part of a redesign. But a few years later, in 2023, while a random spotting, it was revealed that again, Google is looking forward to bringing the light theme back.

In the previous spotting, the theme appeared in quite an early developing stage, since there were plenty of rough edges. Now, according to a new report from Android Authority, it seems that Google has managed to iron out those wrinkles.

Back in 2023, when the new light theme leaked, a Reddit user shared a post regarding the theme, which included a few issues; for instance, the theme only applied to the navigation bar and suggestions cards. Whereas other applications, such as the settings, media apps, phone, navigation applications, and so on, remained dark despite the light theme, which hints that it lacked coherence.

According to a new report, Google is now all set to bring back the light theme, as it is no longer only being applied to the navigation bar and suggestions cards. Noticeably, the colors now change dynamically with the system.
