Samsung is set to debut the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at the Unpacked event in July 2025, which is anticipated to have a Titanium backplate.
The Korean tech giant has a bunch of its latest foldable smartphones to debut this year, including Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy G Fold (Tri-fold), and Galaxy Z Flip FE. Currently, there’s no official report regarding the specifications, features, and build material of the devices yet.
Meanwhile, a new report from TheElec revealed that Samsung is looking forward to using a Titanium backplate in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy G Fold foldable phones. If this report comes true, then the company will replace the conventional backplate material with Titanium will help in making foldables sleeker and lighter.
The Titanium backplate is a key component in Samsung’s foldable smartphones, as it reduces the thickness and weight without compromising durability. It plays an essential role as a support between the foldable panel and the hinge.
The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to measure 9mm in thickness while folded and 4mm while unfolded, and the cover & inner displays would also be larger than its predecessor.
However, Samsung has yet to reveal its plan for using the Titanium backplate for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy G Fold. It remains to be seen exactly what material the company will use to build the back of these upcoming foldable phones.
