Samsung adds a new kill switch to Secure Folder with One UI 8

Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 beta program is currently live for the Galaxy S25 series, but will gradually extend to more eligible Galaxy devices. The latest update has improved the Secure Folder to add an extra layer of security.

The One UI 8 beta update has brought several notable improvements; for instance, it makes My Files more convenient to find downloaded files, revamps the Reminder app & Quick Share, and many more to enhance the user experience.

Apart from these upgrades , One UI 8 also adds a new kill switch (Via Sammobile)in the Secure Folder to make it more secure, and also toughens the biometric authentication. The newly added kill switch of sorts will ensure optimal protection against unauthorized access.

The Secure Folder now automatically recognizes the fingerprints that you set to unlock your device’s screen as the authentication method on One UI 7. Now with the One UI 8, the fingerprints for Secure Folder must be registered dedicatedly from those set to unlock the device’s display. In cae you have someone else’s fingerprints set up to unlock the screen, the same can’t be used to unlock the Secure Folder.

In One UI 7, when you moved the apps to the Secure Folder, the app drawer would retain a copy of the original application and not allow it to be hidden from the main application drawers, so someone could still find it. However, it’s not the case anymore since now you can remove the app icon from the app drawer on One UI 8.

Samsung offered the Hide Secure Folder button in the quick panel, which lets you hide the Secure Folder app icon and prevent it from unauthorized access, and make it more encrypted.
