Samsung UK recommends customers activate anti-theft features on Galaxy devices

Samsung UK recommends that its customers activate the latest anti-theft features to help tackle phone theft feature to help tackle phone theft crime. 

The company, via Samsung Knox, offers robust privacy and security features on Galaxy devices. With One UI 7, it received Identity Check and Security Delay- two features that are becoming more widespread as the update reaches more Galaxy devices. 

On the other side, the Korean tech firm is encouraging smartphone users across the UK to enable the latest anti-theft features available on Samsung Galaxy devices. This activity will be convenient as it supports the UK Home Office’s ongoing work to drive new nationwide action to tackle mobile phone thefts.

Samsung UK is on a mission to send public safety security message alerts to more than 40 million Samsung Account holders. It has also announced that it will empower Galaxy users widely to authorise the latest security features in One UI, which are as follows – 

  • Theft Detection Lock is a system based on machine learning that detects motions associated with theft. If triggered, it instantly locks the screen to prevent access. 
  • Offline Device Lock is a tool that permits users whose devices have already been stolen to remotely lock their phones, recover control of their accounts, and access recovery options. 
  • Identity Check is a feature introduced with One UI 7 that allows you to set requirements for biometric authentication when sensitive security settings changes are attempted in Safe Places. 
  • Security Delay is also introduced with One UI 7, when you enable it, a one-hour delay is activated whenever changes to biometric authentication settings are requested. 

Noticeably, these updated theft features are now becoming available on previous flagship devices, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S22 series currently,  but with future updates planned for even more Galaxy smartphones.
