Android Auto’s Gemini May Let You Control Smart Home Devices from Your Car

Google took the biggest step of replacing Google Assistant with Gemini across the Android ecosystem, and amazingly, Android Auto is one among them. The company took charge to ditch Google Assistant completely from Android Auto service; it appears like Gemini can control smart homes from the car itself.
Surprisingly, a new code string has been discovered (via Android Authority) while conducting a teardown analysis of the Google app carrying the v16.24.66.sa.arm64 beta version.
More specifically, the latest codes pointed out that Google appears to be working on integrating an ability where the Google Home Gemini extension was seen controlling users’s smart home devices directly from their car, particularly with the help of Android Auto. The strings further revealed that right after connecting Gemini to Google Home, users will be able to control and manage their smart home devices directly from their vehicle using Android Auto.
Beyond this, Gemini can easily access certain data, including the user’s history of smart home activity, and can probably share chats conducted with Home to improve its service and functionality. Thus, users will be able to turn off lights and control other home appliances just from sitting in their cars.
However, Google is yet to reveal any information regarding this. At the same time, it is possible that Gemini’s extension would arrive on both Android Auto and Android Automotive. For now, it’s clear that Google has started working on this functionality, but the exact timeline is not yet confirmed, nor whether the company will implement this feature or not.
