Samsung to offer an older protection layer to the Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is around the corner, but it seems to bring the older protection layer as it supports an IP48 rating like its predecessor.

Samsung will debut the Galaxy Z Fold 7 next month at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, in New York, as the successor of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. To date, dozens of leaks and rumors regarding the specifications, features, and design of the device have surfaced online without any official revelation.

It looks like tipsters have already revealed almost all details of the coming foldable phone. Meanwhile, a new post on X, shared by Panda Flash, reveals a new detail of the device regarding the IP rating, unfortunately, which is not exciting.

According to the post, the company is not planning to offer an upgraded protection layer to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, as it still supports an IP48 rating same as its predecessor Galaxy Z Fold 6. The IP48 rating will prevent the device from dust and water resistance (dust > 1mm; immersible up to 1.5m for 30 min).

However, there are no official words regarding the IP rating of the upcoming foldable, so it remains to be seen whether the leaked report will come true. Samsung will also launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s sibling Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z Flip FE at the event. Interested ones can easily see the event live on the company’s official platforms, including Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom, and the YouTube channel, beginning at 10 a.m. ET, 3 p.m. BST, and 4 p.m. CET.
