One UI 8: Explore Samsung’s Next Big Update—Arriving Soon

Indeed, Samsung’s One UI 7 was the biggest update ever for the entire Galaxy fans community, but on the flip side, the latest Android 16-based One UI 8 update, however, is not considered the biggest ever; perhaps it significantly got users the most upgraded features, which will take the entire UI and UX to the next level.

Of course, One UI 8 is running in its beta stage for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, and they are the only ones that are running the latest OS, but in beta stage, and now, with the newly unveiled Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 that run stable One UI 8 out of the box, users will get to know some fantastic upgrades and enhancements that have been packed within the newest version; most of them are exclusively designed for foldables.

More upgrades to the Galaxy AI suite:

Samsung has continuously offered several enhancements to its proprietary Galaxy AI suite. Well, with One UI 8, the company has further upgraded Galaxy AI while also adding a few AI features that will specifically be working only on foldable phones. These upgraded features include new features in Browsing Assist, Audio Eraser, generative edit, and Now Brief.

Specifically, Audio Eraser, a feature that is designed to erase unwanted noise from an audio or video, has been expanded to more apps such as Samsung Notes, Voice Recorder, and Gallery.

Samsung’s Now Brief, which initially arrived with the Galaxy S25 series, has already made its way to more eligible flagship models and has also been upgraded with One UI 8. The Now Brief feature is getting smarter as it supports more third-party apps. The inclusion of birthday cards, smart home alerts, parking spot reminders, and wearable battery alerts will further work on enhancing the overall experience of the users.

Beyond this, other upgrades in Galaxy AI include Browsing Assist, which is a functionality that allows users to have more efficient and convenient multitasking that certainly helps productivity. Next up is the Generative Edit, a feature that allows users to efficiently view and compare their edited and unedited photos or videos side by side. (Note: the Browsing Assist and Generative Edit are exclusively designed for foldable smartphones.)

Refreshed design and UI changes:

One UI 8 brings various design tweaks to a handful of apps, including Gallery, My FilesReminder, and Calendar. First up, the My Files app now has a few redesigned categories and icons.

Next up is the Reminders, where Samsung has offered an all-new layout. Then, the Gallery app, which gets private albums. Lastly, the Calendar app also gets the Event and Reminder tabs for more convenience.

More changes:

Quick Share—With One UI 8, Samsung has integrated two new tabs, named Send and Receive, which allow users to have a more convenient and quick file sharing or receiving experience.

Call Captions—This feature is more or less identical to the Call Transcript feature that has arrived with One UI 7, while this time, with One UI 8, Samsung has slightly enhanced the functionality. The feature significantly displays what each person is speaking on the screen during phone calls. At the same time, Call Captions shows instant results and skips the process of recording the calls and then transcribing them, as it does in One UI 7.
