One UI 8 Shows Samsung’s UX Strengths as iOS 26 Misses the Mark

Samsung always had a clarified vision regarding the shaping and improvements in its software, while its rival Apple still failed to prove its software and provide a much-needed identity that the software deserves.

Apple and Samsung are considered two of the big names in the smartphone industry, and their rivalry is not unknown to the people around the world.

While the former came up with a major overhaul for its iPhone operating system, iOS is still struggling to go beyond the boundaries that allow it to proudly attract a fanbase with next-level features; the latter is winning hearts of the entire Galaxy community, thanks to the visual tactics presented with One UI 7.

Specifically, with One UI 7, Samsung brought about a bunch of new and noticeable features or changes, making the Android 15-based version the biggest upgrade in One UI history so far. At the same time, the recent update, One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, isn’t found to bring any massive changes, but instead the version packs some significant upgrades and enhancements that were apparently needed after One UI 7’s closure.

This eventually shows Samsung’s clear goal to achieve a more enhanced, impactful, subtle, sophisticated, tactful, and clarified mechanism on which its One UI software will run.

But on the other hand, things don’t go beyond tactics for Apple. The company recently released iOS 26, its software in the form of a major leap towards a new vision for its iPhone community. Apparently, the new OS brought about a handful of significant features, including Liquid Glass UI for deeper and much richer visuals compared to the actual glass. However, despite that, iOS is still struggling to make it to the Apple fanbase properly.

As the time flies, Apple’s iOS 26 has shown significant progress, leading to a rapid downgrade of Liquid Glass UI, while the changes can be noticed when users upgrade from iOS 26 Beta 1 to Beta 2. This has gotten even worse when users posted that they have complaints regarding the legibility issues that even prevented them from using their iPhone easily.

After the latest iOS beta, the Liquid Glass issue faded a little and started showing reduced transparency across the entire UI and even darker navigation bars for efficient and improved clarity. Apple, though, entered into the process of bringing more innovations via its software, including Apple Intelligence, which looks like a toned-down version of Samsung’s Galaxy AI but, perhaps, lacks the tactics that make iOS stand out among others.
