We are on the edge of this month, while Samsung is still continuing with the July 2025 security update for its Galaxy devices. Meanwhile, a bunch of devices have started getting the update in one of Samsung’s major markets, the US.
Specifically, the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy Note 20 series units are receiving the July 2025 security update, which has been identified with the version numbers and is currently available for the Verizon carrier-locked models in the US.
The latest security update for the Galaxy S23 family is identified with the S91*USQS6DYG1; the Galaxy Foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, come with the F946USQS6EYG7 and F731USQS6EYG7; and lastly, the Galaxy Note 20 series, consisting of the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, carries the N981USQSDHYG1 and N986USQSDHYG1 version numbers, respectively.
As usual, Samsung’s monthly security patches are more about focusing on improving the device’s overall security and core functionality rather than integrating some major features or changes. The update packs a lot of fixes for all the security vulnerabilities that have been addressed in the previous version, while also protecting the device against potential threats.
Well, excluding the Galaxy Note 20 series, the other two devices, including the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, are entirely eligible to receive the latest Android 16-based One UI 8 update.Samsung has already been testing the newest version on both the S23 models and 5th-gen foldables on its internal test servers, suggesting the stable launch is approaching.
However, the exact launch timeline for the stable One UI 8 is still unknown, but hopefully, Samsung could possibly release the newest software as early as possible, as the progress is rapid.
