Samsung introduced its next-generation folding phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE during its Summer Galaxy Unpacked event, where the models became the first to be pre-installed with the Android 16-based One UI 8 version out of the box. Meanwhile, the foldables also join the August 2025 security update list.
A few weeks ago, Samsung detailed the latest August 2025 security update for its Galaxy devices. The Galaxy A56 became the first model to receive the update, and with that, the company has delivered the update to a bunch of devices so far. Meanwhile, now, it’s the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 joining the August update list.
Starting with the US, Samsung has started rolling out the August 2025 security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models, which is currently available for both the carrier-locked and unlocked units and is expected to reach more devices across the country in the coming weeks.
More specifically, the latest firmware for the carrier-locked (T-Mobile) Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 has been identified with the version numbers F966USQS3AYH1 and F766USQS3AYH1, respectively, while the unlocked models come with F966U1UES3AYH1 and F766U1UES3AYH3, respectively.
Additionally, the latest update for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE models also integrates the same August 2025 security patch and is identified with the version number F761USQS3AYH3 (for Comcast carrier-locked models) and F761U1UES3AYH3 (for unlocked units).
Well, the August 2025 security update, however, doesn’t bring any major features or changes; rather, it significantly packs a lot of fixes for all the security vulnerabilities and focuses on improving the device’s overall security and core functionality in order to offer a more secure user experience while also protecting the device against sophisticated threats and adding stability to the entire system behavior that provides a more efficient performance and functionality.
