Samsung is gearing up to bring its next-generation flagship Galaxy S26 series next year, which is now anticipated to feature convenient video upgrades via APV codec and LUT support.
Under the hood, the Korean tech giant has already started working on the Galaxy S26 series, which will include three variants, except for the Plus variant, as mentioned below—
- Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra
To date, not a single official detail regarding the series’ specifications, design, launch, and price has been revealed; meanwhile, leaks and reports have already started blowing up the market.
Meanwhile, a tipster, Tim Tom 0 (via), revealed the Galaxy S26 series might finally get two convenient features, which are as follows:
- APV stands for “Advanced Professional Video Codec.”
- LUT stands for “Look-Up Tablet.”
These two features will allow you to record cinematic-quality videos that retain their clarity even after heavy editing. The trade-off is file size: shooting 1080p/30fps in APV 422 HQ consumes about 1 GB per minute, while APV 422 LQ uses around 0.75 GB per minute; to handle this, the company will let you save these large files directly to your external drives via USB-C, which prevents your phone from choking on all that data.
While the LUT will enhance the video quality, all you may need to do is tap the LUT icon, and you will see your video clip in its final color-corrected glory. Reportedly, Samsung is also expected to offer more options for the frame rates; full HD footage will be recordable at 25, 50, or 100 fps; Ultra HD at the same speeds; and 8K at 25 fps.
However, there’s no official report regarding this upgrade, so it remains to be seen whether the prediction will come true.
