Samsung sends Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 based on 2nm process sample to Qualcomm

Samsung has now started working on a new Snapdragon chipset, expected to be used in the next-generation Galaxy Z Flip 8, as a new report says.

Recently, at the Snapdragon Summit 2025, Qualcomm announced its latest flagship mobile chipset, named Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and also confirmed that Samsung will use the chipset in upcoming flagship devices, including the Galaxy S26 series.

Meanwhile, a new report hints that there may be an unreleased version of the chipset that the Korean tech giant will make and is expected to use in its next-generation Galaxy Z Flip 8 phone, which is supposed to launch next year.

According to the report, Samsung Foundry has sent samples of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip based on its 2nm GAA process to Qualcomm for evaluation, and it may be cleared for use in the next-generation Galaxy foldable phone.

Samsung has been working with full dedication just to improve the yields of its 2 nm process. On the other hand, its next-gen chipset, the Exynos 2600, is based on its 2nm GAA process, and it’s anticipated to power the Galaxy S26 series.

In case the company successfully exhibits satisfied yields for its 2nm process, then there is a high chance it could crack a manufacturing deal with Qualcomm for the 2nm iteration of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It remains to be seen exactly what will happen next.
