Samsung to power only 30% of Galaxy S26 units with Exynos 2600

Samsung has already started mass-producing its in-house Exynos 2600 SoC, which is now anticipated to power 30% of the Galaxy S26 units.

The Korean tech giant is already working on its next-generation SoC and smartphone series, the Exynos 2600 and Galaxy S26 series, respectively. The lineup will include three models: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Initially, it was rumored that the company would replace the Galaxy S26 with Galaxy 26 Pro, and the Galaxy S26+ with the Galaxy S26 Edge; however, it’s not the case anymore, since a few recent reports revealed that it will adopt the old naming scheme for the lineup.

According to the previous reports, it was expected that Samsung would power all the Galaxy S26 models with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. However, recently, it was reported that the company could use its in-house Exynos 2600 chipset to power the Galaxy S26 Ultra in South Korea and Europe. While the US, Japan, and China will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

Meanwhile, a new report from TrendForce reveals that Samsung is considering producing a limited Exynos 2600 mainly for its home country, Korea. Although it has already started the mass production of the Exynos 2600 using its 2nm manufacturing technology.

Another report reveals that the initial output of the flagship Exynos chip is around 15,000 wafers. This figure represents roughly 30% of the total Galaxy S26 production capacity planned for next year. Noticeably, one of the key reasons behind this limited output is the low yield on the company’s advanced 2nm process. It remains to be seen whether Samsung will use its in-house chip widely for the Galaxy S26 models or go with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
