Samsung secured the second position in the global DRAM market with a 32.6% share, while its rival SK Hynix leads the market in Q3 2025.
The Korean tech giant is struggling hard to stand strong against its rival, SK Hynix, and the effort seems worthwhile. According to a new report from TrendForce, Samsung is in second position in the global DRAM market, and SK Hynix is in top position; however, the gap between these firms is quite close.
SK Hynix secured a 33.2% market share in terms of sales, while Samsung earned a 32.6% share in the third quarter of this year. These metrics suggest that both of these companies are almost at the same level, thanks to a strong comeback in HBM shipments.
Previously, the Korean tech brand faced a setback with delays in Nvidia’s approval of its 12-layer HBM3E chips, which turned out as an advantage for SK Hynix to lead in the HBM3E segment, securing initial supply for Nvidia’s AI accelerators.
Lately, Samsung has entered Nvidia’s HBM3E supply chain and expanded sales to AMD and Broadcom; its DRAM revenue increased to 30.4% in Q3 2025. On the rivalry side, SK Hynix saw a 12.4% increase during the same period.
If Samsung maintained its increase in market share continuously, then it could soon surpass SK Hynix and lead the global DRAM market.
