One UI 9 Leak Hints at Motion Assist Feature

Samsung Galaxy users, get ready to experience a new convenient feature called Motion Assist with the next major iteration, One UI 9, based on Android 17.

Currently, Samsung has opened the Android 16-based One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 models in selected markets and is actively looking to introduce this iteration stably on the Galaxy S26 series next year. Once it finishes distributing One UI 8.5 to all eligible Galaxy devices, it will start gearing up for One UI 9, which will be based on Android 17.

Meanwhile, one of the reliable blogs, Android Authority, revealed that Google is working on a new Motion Assist feature to be introduced with Android 17, which will efficiently make using phones in moving vehicles comfortable.

According to the report, a Motion Assist feature, also called Motion Cues, will display small dots on the screen that move in sync with the vehicle’s motion, and these dots use the phone’s motion sensors to match to reduce motion sickness. Notably, this feature already exists inside Google Play Services but remains to be activated.

However, this feature does not appear over the lock screen, notifications, or Quick Settings currently due to Android’s overlay limits. Since Samsung’s One UI 9 will be based on Android 17, it is possible that the company could adopt this feature to enhance Galaxy users’ experience.
