Samsung Electronics revealed that its high-efficiency washing machines are now compatible with reducing energy consumption by at least 30% by utilizing the ‘AI Saving Mode’ function based on SmartThings.
In case you missed it, “AI Saving Mode” is a function that manages and reduces the energy usage of home appliances connected to SmartThings. The company held a test to acknowledge just how much the AI Energy Mode on AI-powered washing machines can help reduce energy consumption, and the results came in favor of this technology.
Samsung, via its newsroom, revealed that the AI Energy Mode on this appliance can reduce usage by up to 30%. The company is claiming this percentage, as it got to these results by measuring, in the real world, the energy usage of nearly 187,000 Samsung washing machines in more than 126 countries.
The company ran the test for almost one year, i.e., from July 2024 to June 2025, and the results showed that the AI Energy Mode saved approximately 5.02 GWh of energy, which is nearly 30% of the total consumption.
Regarding this, Moon Jong-seung, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ DA Business Division, stated, “Samsung Electronics closely considers the environmental impact of its home appliance products and services from the planning stage to the usage stage, including AI-saving mode,” and added, “Based on this international verification, we will strengthen our leadership in high-efficiency home appliances and dedicate ourselves even more to developing functions that improve energy efficiency.”
Samsung also announced that it will showcase several innovative home appliances compatible with ‘AI Saving Mode” at the“TheFirstlook” event at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, USA, in January 2026.
