Samsung Is Already Building One UI 9.0 — Here’s What We Know So Far

One UI 9

One UI 8.5 only just arrived with the Galaxy S26, and Samsung is already deep into the next one.

A preliminary firmware build for the Galaxy S26 Ultra carrying One UI 9.0 has surfaced, giving us an early look at what Samsung has in the pipeline. This was spotted by the team at SamMobile, who got access to the build before any official announcement.

What’s Actually Different Right Now

At this stage, don’t expect anything dramatic. The most visible change is in the quick settings panel, where the volume and brightness sliders are noticeably larger than before. It’s a small but practical tweak that makes those controls easier to interact with.

The other notable shift is in Settings itself. Parental Controls now has its own dedicated entry, separate from Digital Wellbeing. On One UI 8.5 and earlier, both were grouped together, which was not always intuitive for parents managing screen time for kids.

That’s largely it for visible changes in this build. But early firmware is exactly that: early. Deeper features tend to surface as development matures.

Why the Timing Makes Sense

One UI 9.0 is built on Android 17, which puts it in a different category from 8.5, which runs on Android 16 QPR2. That underlying shift typically brings more meaningful changes under the hood than surface-level UI redesigns suggest.

Samsung is expected to launch One UI 9.0 in stable form alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 this summer. A beta for the Galaxy S26 series could arrive a few months before that.

For Galaxy S25 owners, One UI 8.5 is still finishing its beta run. One UI 9.0 remains a few chapters ahead.
