The Galaxy S26 series barely had time to settle into people’s hands before the conversation moved on. That is just how the smartphone industry works now, and Samsung’s next flagship cycle is already generating serious attention, specifically around what the Galaxy S27 Ultra might bring to the table.

The most interesting rumor circulating right now has nothing to do with cameras or design. It is about memory. According to recent leaks tied to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could be one of the first smartphones to ship with LPDDR6 RAM.

Qualcomm appears to be planning two versions of its next flagship chipset. The standard variant handles the basics, but the Pro version is where things get more ambitious, with support for next-generation memory being the standout difference.

LPDDR6 is a meaningful step forward on paper. It offers higher bandwidth and better power efficiency than current LPDDR5X memory, largely due to architectural changes in how memory channels are structured. The practical benefits should show up in multitasking, faster app loading, and more capable on-device AI processing. Gaming performance could also see a lift under heavy workloads.

That said, real-world gains only become clear through actual testing, and that is still a long way off.

There is one issue worth flagging. Cutting-edge memory paired with a premium chipset rarely comes without a cost. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is already positioned at the top of Samsung’s lineup, and this kind of hardware upgrade raises a genuine question about where the final price lands.

Samsung has not confirmed anything yet, but the direction of travel looks clear.
