Samsung releases details of July 2023 Security Patches, solve over 90 vulnerabilities
Samsung has already started the July 2023 update is already being distributed for some smartphones, making the latest fixes available in terms of security. The update first available for Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy A53 5G devices. And it will soon expand other smartphones as well.
As usual, through the dedicated website, Samsung releases the details of the fixes that will be implemented on the devices that will receive the latest security patches available, those of July 2023.
Samsung July 2023 Security Update Details
As usual, the security update includes both fixes released directly by Google and other specifications for Galaxy devices: this month, it is specifically a total of 90 fixes, 52 released directly by Big G and 38 by Samsung.
Three of these fixes go to fix critical–level vulnerabilities, while 56 fixes are related to vulnerabilities classified as high-level. Moreover, 0 is a moderate–level, and one is not applicable to Samsung devices.
Samsung has addressed various security vulnerabilities (SVEs), including those related to manual package installation via ADB command, improper access control in the audio system, UWB chipset identifier, broadcast SMS configuration, Galaxy Themes Service, and more. Additionally, improper access control issues were discovered in Settings, and certain internal testing functions exhibited out-of-bounds write issues. These vulnerabilities could potentially enable hackers to execute malicious code.

Many of these vulnerabilities were found in devices running Android 11, Android 12, Android 12L, and Android 13. Some of the issues identified were specifically related to Qualcomm chips and components, Mali and PowerVR GPUs, as well as memory management.
