Samsung April 2024 Security Update: Details and Improvements Explained

A new month has begun, and smartphone manufacturers who are faster and more aware of their devices’ software support are committed to releasing the latest security patches available, those of April 2024. Samsung is no less since it has in turn started the release of the April patches on the latest flagship devices in the Galaxy S24 series.

The Korean giant has already started distributing the April 2024 security patch update for flagship devices; more specifically, the update is now available for the Galaxy S24 series devices, and gradually it will be expanded to more eligible Galaxy devices.

As far as the eligibility of the devices is concerned, the Korean giant follows a strict policy where it lists all the high-end and midrange devices eligible for five-year OS security patch updates. Meanwhile, some budget and entry-level devices are eligible for at least four years of security patch updates. So if you’re using a device that is not older than the mentioned time, your device will be eligible to get the April 2024 security patch.

However, it can also be from device to device if they received the April 2024 patch or not because Samsung has listed some devices in the quarterly and biannual security patches, so they are not completely eligible to get the April 2024 patch; instead, they may get a new security patch next month or next quarter.

According to the official documentation, the April 2024 security patch will address around 44 different fixes for Galaxy devices. Google has included 27 patches, of which 26 are marked as high priority and one is marked as critical. These patches will address the issue found under the Android OS. Meanwhile, Samsung has also addressed 17 more issues, which will improve the functioning of the devices. 

Coming to the availability of the update for your Galaxy device, there is no certain time frame for the availability of the devices, and the company also does not have a definite pattern, so it is difficult to say when it will be available for any particular device.
