Samsung president hinted XR headset launching is on track

Earlier this year, Samsung revealed the development of the XR headset. The company has indicated that it may launch the new Dew devices on the XR technology in the next unpacked event, which was organized for Galaxy foldables, but it didn’t happen, and we also didn’t get any update on it. Due to this, it is assumed that Samsung may postpone it more. But according to the report by ZDNet, the Samsung president hinted that the plan for a new XR headset and ecosystem is on track and will be officially announced soon.

Samsung president’s exact words

Last week, Roh addressed the AR/VR partnership and said, “We are not looking to be happy about launching a single product or creating an ecosystem for one company. Like smartphones, what we are doing is opening an XR ecosystem. We are expecting an announcement in the not-too-far-off future.” and then he also added, “Predictions on the XR market are polarized. But we do believe it will become the next growth engine, much in the vein of smartphones.”

Samsung does not want to compete with Apple with a medium-grade product.

Samsung has already entered into a partnership with Google and can launch the extended reality product anytime, but according to Roh, Samsung does not want to directly compete with Apple’s high-end Vision Pro, as it has already raised the bar high, so to stay ahead on this, the company has to do a lot more advancement in the product to keep it different from Apple’s one or just start with some smaller and less ambitious paths.
