Samsung TVs Show Repetitive Privacy Pop-Ups, Annoying Users

Samsung Smart TV users are dealing with an inconvenient issue as the TVs repeatedly display Smart Hub privacy pop-ups.

While turning on the newly purchased Samsung Smart TV, it takes you through the setup process, which includes a Smart Hub privacy notice regarding collecting user data to offer a better user experience, although you can opt in or opt out at your convenience.

Users who opted in in the setup process, it turns out, are now reminding them of the privacy status. Whereas those who opt out of Smart Hub’s user data collection service are being notified that the company will contact them in 15 days, which seems unusual and inconvenient in the midst of a seamless watching experience.

According to the report from the Samsung QN65 TV owner in Dallas, Texas, reported on BlueSky, their TV started showing a notification regarding collecting user data. Noticeably, despite dismissing the notification, it continued to reappear throughout the day, interrupting their viewing experience.

On the other side, the Samsung S90C OLED TV in other India doesn’t display any notification related to privacy status yet even after opting out of Smart Hub’s user data collection service. This hints that the issue is either model-specific, region-specific, or both.

The users who are facing this issue can easily get rid of it by navigating a few steps;

Go to Settings >> All Settings >> General & Privacy >> Terms & Privacy >> Privacy Choices >> Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy.

Once completed, navigate these steps and opt out from Smart Hub’s Viewing Information Services and Interest-Based Advertisements Service Privacy Notice.
