One UI 8: A new Samsung DeX UI, refined Galaxy Buds controls, and more

Samsung’s One UI 8 is currently in the headlines, while a few previous reports are more than enough to provide a small hint that the Korean company has started developing its next major OS version. Following the One UI 8-based One UI Home Launcher, here’s how the newest Dex UI is supposed to receive some impressive changes with the upcoming major update.

In case you missed it! Samsung DeX significantly allows Galaxy owners to mirror their smartphones or tablets into a desktop-like experience in order to provide a UX that resembles a PC.

One UI 8 enhanced Samsung DeX:

Meanwhile, Samsung’s One UI 8 appears to be looking forward to taking up various influential changes within Samsung DeX that Google is about to introduce with Android 16 to all the Android smartphones, thanks to the reports presented by Sammobile.

To begin with, One UI 8 is going to bring a centred taskbar that’s more or less similar to Windows, while also aligning the app icons at the centre and the taskbar now includes shortcuts for apps as well.

At the same time, another minor change has been performed within the app drawer, now, users will get to see a small pop-up window for all the apps that have been installed, rather than occupying the entire screen.

Galaxy Buds gets more refined controls in Quick panel:

Next up, a more enhanced quick panel controls for the Galaxy Buds 3 series and also for more eligible Galaxy Buds. Now, by long pressing the volume slider in a quick panel pops up a menu that allows users to seamlessly adjust the volume and other sound-based features.

Finally, One UI 8 is also supposed to bring some noticeable enhancements within the entire system UI, including the crystal-like background blur when any pop-up menu appears, providing a cleaner look to the overall UX.

At this point in time, Samsung is preparing One UI 8 behind closed doors and it’s in its early stages of development. Thus, it’s safe to say that the company will be adding some major yet essential features or changes under the hood once the upcoming version officially enters the beta channel.
