Apple Might Follow Samsung to 200MP Camera Territory in Future iPhone

Samsung has equipped its Ultra model of the flagship S-series with a 200MP primary camera, starting with the Galaxy S23 lineup. Now, Apple is anticipated to adopt this step.

Initially, Samsung introduced a 200MP primary sensor with the Galaxy S23 Ultra and then continued this legacy with the Galaxy S24 UltraGalaxy S25 Ultra, & Galaxy S25 Edge. On the other side, its rival Apple is now also looking forward to offering a 200MP camera to its iPhones.

Apple Could Equip Future iPhones with 200MP Cameras

A new report from one of the reliable tipsters, Digital Chat Station, reported that Apple is testing a 200MP camera sensor. Currently, Apple is maintaining its 48MP camera legacy from the iPhone 14 lineup, but initially, it offered it only to the Pro and Pro Max models. Later, Apple infused a 48MP primary camera into all the variants of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 lineup.

Apple is the brand that usually believes in quality over quantity of megapixels for its camera. If the new report comes true, then it will be a great jump for Apple, since taking the jump from 48 MP to 200 MP, Apple has to increase by 152 megapixels. The tipster hasn’t mentioned which iPhone series Apple will infuse with a 200MP camera.

However, there are no official words regarding this report yet, so it remains to be seen exactly what happens next. But in case the report comes true, then Apple will follow Samsung’s footsteps in the camera department.
