Galaxy Z Fold 7 to have Qi2 Ready wireless charging support

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now anticipated to have a Qi2 Ready wireless charging support similar to the Galaxy S25 series, as the report says.

The Korean tech giant is supposed to debut the next-generation foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which now appears with Qi 2.1.0 certification. According to a report from one of our reliable colleagues, 9to5Google, revealed that an unannounced Galaxy device was spotted with the dedicated model number SM-D637U in the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) database.

Noticeably, usually, the company doesn’t use the SM-Dxxx series as a model number for phones, but it used SM-D617D in the past to hide the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s model number (SM-F946B). The newly spotted SM-D637U model number is highly anticipated, the SM-F97U, which is the USA carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

According to the supporting document, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 features Qi 2.1.0 certification, which is Samsung’s first foldable phone integrated with ‘Qi2 Ready’ certification and required cases with built-in magnets for the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP).

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a 4,400mAh battery and supports 25W fast wired charging, similar to its predecessor. However, Samsung has yet to reveal any official statement regarding Qi2 Ready wireless charging support, so it will be interesting to see whether this report will come true.
