Samsung partners with Vodafone to introduce smarter & faster networks to Europe

Samsung and Vodafone are collaborating to introduce a new AI-powered mobile network called Open RAN in Europe, which will be convenient to make mobile networks faster and smarter to enhance the experience.

The collaboration mainly aims to bring smarter and more energy-efficient mobile networks, which will be easier to upgrade than traditional networks. Initially, this network will be introduced in Germany and then extended to other European countries.

Samsung reports that the first site is already live in Hannover, and Wismar is about to become the first city served by Vodafone to be fully equipped with Open RAN in early 2026.

The Open RAN will allow operators to mix and match hardware and software from asunder companies, which will be efficient to expand coverage, features, and manage traffic more efficiently.

The Korean tech giant is offering the core technology, such as virtualized RAN software, modern radios like Massive MIMO, and its AI-powered Samsung CongnitiV Network Operations Suite. Noticeably, the AI system helps the network run smoothly and save energy; for instance, it is compatible with switching off parts of the network automatically when traffic is low and switching them back on when demand rises.

Regarding this, Samsung’s Networks President Woojune Kim states, “In the midst of a transformational shift in the telco industry, Samsung has been spearheading software-based and autonomous networks, including vRAN and Open RAN. Leveraging our unmatched technological expertise and real-world pedigree, we are empowering our customers to have a competitive edge in evolving their networks in the AI era.”
