Samsung is now reported to be increasing the RAM supply to Apple for iPhones. A new report reveals that Apple has requested the Korean memory maker to increase its supply of LPDDR5X chips for upcoming iPhone models.
Samsung Foundry has been struggling hard in the tech industry for so long to maintain its competitive position and stand strong against its rival. The company is already in partnership with Apple, under which it supplies RAM for iPhones, and now this partnership is expected to grow stronger.
According to a new report from a reliable blog, The Bell, Apple has requested Samsung to supply about 13 million LPDDR5X chips for the Q2 2026. Interestingly, the Korean tech giant may dispense a satiety share of its 10nm-class fifth-generation (1b) DRAM production capacity to Apple.
Apple is requesting for increase in the RAM supply to Samsung, because it has increased the amount of RAM in its iPhones to support powerful AI features. The next-generation iPhone 18 series is expected to feature 12GB even in the base model, which means that Apple will need more high-performance memory.
Last year, Samsung introduced LPDDR5X, which is available in two variants: 12GB and 16GB. The chip is designed thinner, which helps to improve airflow and thermal control. Regarding this, a Samsung insider stated, “It is true that there was a yield issue with 1b DRAM-based LPDDR,” and added, “Currently, the yield has stabilized, and it has reached a level that customers are satisfied with.”
