Samsung Introduces Fastest 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM; Enhanced for AI Chip
Samsung Electronics confirmed that it has developed the industry’s first LPDDR5X DRAM.
The Korean giant’s LPDDR5X DRAM supports the industry’s highest performance of up to 10.7 gigabits per second. Samsung has achieved the smallest chip size among existing LPDDRs using 12nm-class process technology, solidifying its technological leadership in the low-power DRAM market.
Since AI features are a hot topic in the industry as well as becoming more common on devices themselves, there’s a growing need for powerful and efficient memory. This new LPDDR5X memory not only upgrades performance by 25% faster and 30% more capacious but is also capable of holding up to 32GB in a single package.
All of these upgrades mentioned above make LPDDR5X DRAM ideal for the demands of on-device AI. This new DRAM also boasts 25% better power efficiency as compared to older ones due to features that help to adjust power use based on demands and extend low-power modes, plus enabling mobile devices to deliver long battery life and permitting servers to minimize the total cost of ownership by lowering energy usage while processing data.
Mass production of this latest 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM will begin by the second half of the year.
