WhatsApp introduces one-handed interface like iOS for Android users

The WhatsApp team frequently introduces updates to enhance the app’s features, but the user interface has remained relatively unchanged for a considerable period. However, now the widely-used messaging application is set to unveil a refreshed and contemporary interface.

In its latest graphic redesign, WhatsApp introduces a new navigation bar positioned at the bottom, replacing the long-standing Chat, Status, and Calls tabs that were previously located at the top.

The updated bottom bar now features a dedicated tab for Communities, positioned between the tabs for chats and statuses. This placement showcases the platform’s emphasis on social media aspects, highlighting its interest in fostering community engagement.

Furthermore, the lower navigation bar enhances the one-handed usability of the app, particularly on mobile devices with expansive screens. The revamped WhatsApp interface is currently being rolled out to select users of the beta version, with plans to make it available to all users in the coming weeks.
