It’s day two at MWC Barcelona 2024. Mobile World Congress never fails to meet the expectations of fans, and this year’s MWC 2024 in Barcelona also brings surprises for smartwatch fans.

MWC 2024 brings several absolutely amazing gadgets and new for tech enthusiasts, among which the smartwatch is one of the most noticeable. All the tech giants take part in the event, while Google has taken care to revive attention on the news of Wear OS. It is speculated that multiple new smartwatches will be unveiled at MWC 2024, which are on the way to take the floor.

At the event, Google presented updates to its Wear OS platform. These updates included various brand new design changes and expanded functionality for the Wear OS hybrid interface. It appears that behind this change, the brand just aims to make Wear OS smartwatches more user-friendly as well as versatile as per the convenience of the users, enhancing their experience.

Apart from this, the text mentions access to boarding passes and loyalty cards on Wear OS, although it does not overview it as a new feature and probably highlights existing functionality. Wear OS smartwatches are typically powered by dual processors, which are as follows:

  • Powerful Application Processor (AP)
  • Low-Power Microcontroller Unit (MCU)

The application processor handles the complex tasks, whereas the low-power microcontroller unit takes care of simple tasks such as tracking steps and heart rate, saving battery life, and many more. The Hybrid Interface of Wear OS manages its two chipsets to save battery life. The new upgrade will also permit smartwatch producers to have notifications processed on the MCU. And the AP makes sure to deliver a seamless experience to users.

Initially, this confirmation appeared on the OnePlus Watch 2, a device represented today by the Chinese brand. The watch features the new Dual Engine Architecture, a combo of two processors, the Snapdragon W5 and the BES 2700, which divide the tasks as per needs.
