Samsung SmartThings gets a new update, bringing Matter 1.4 support

Samsung expanded the SmartThings app compatibility by delivering a massive upgrade that brings Matter 1.4 support and more to enhance the AI Home experience. 

Recently, the Korean tech giant released the stable Android 15-based One UI 7, and now it has announced an update to its global connected living platform, SmartThings. With the latest update, SmartThings has now integrated wth Samsung Health to enhance users’ sleep environment while enabling more personalized automation experiences.

The update also expands Calm Onboarding to support a wider range of devices and adds compatibility with the Matter 1.4 standard. Samsung Health is now compatible with offering sleep environment reports on Galaxy devices, which analyze elements such as temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide levels, and light intensity using connected sensors. All of these will offer users insights to optimize rest. 

Pairing SmartThings with Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring will let you adjust your home according to your sleep patterns. The company also offered flexibility to SmartThigns routines with recurring schedules – like weekly, monthly, or yearly, and also allows to set smart lights to change colors for events like birthdays, making automation fit their lifestyle.

The update also brings a new feature that allows you to send voice messages through SmartThings-connected speakers. SmartThings app now supports Matter 1.4, which will add compatibility with energy management devices such as water heaters, heat pumps, solar power devices, and battery storage units.
