Samsung has offered the UWB connectivity service since 2021; however, it was limited to the company’s S series units, and now, a new report suggests that this limitation seems to be changing with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 models, but there’s a small snag!
To recall, the Galaxy S21 series, excluding the base variant, was the first to get in touch with the Ultra Wide Band, or UWB, connectivity, a service that allowed users to locate other devices with UWB support in real-time.
However, Samsung has always been incorporating the UWB feature on all of its flagships, but now, it looks like the company is moving towards expanding the functionality to more Galaxy devices, especially the Z Flip series models, as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 gets the significant Ultra Wideband connectivity, but with a small twist, according to the report by Sammobile via Android Authority.
Specifically, Samsung has finally incorporated the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with the Ultra Wide Band connectivity for more precise tracking; however, the functionality is only exclusive to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 models (SM-F766N) that are sold in Samsung’s hometown, South Korea. With this, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 becomes the first ever phone in the Z Flip series to feature Ultra Wideband connectivity.
At the same time, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 models will now be able to accurately track other devices that support Ultra Wideband connectivity; these include Galaxy SmartTag2 and Galaxy SmartTag+ using the SmartThings app. Hopefully, the UWB feature will be expanded to more countries other than South Korea.
